Disinfectant Efficacy Testing

Virucidal, Bactericidal, Fungicidal and Sporicidal Disinfectant Testing

We offer both entry level (e.g. suspension tests) and advanced efficacy testing (e.g. surface tests, different application formats) of disinfectants against a wide variety of viruses, bacteria, fungi, yeast and spore producing bacteria. Tests can be designed for specific pathogens including Legionella, norovirus (surrogate), SARS virus (surrogate), enteroviruses, including poliovirus, and parvovirus.

Bluscientific TD also provides kill time curve data, to establish and validate the use of disinfectant and offer Concentration Time (CT) determinations for comparative analysis of disinfectant efficacy.

Test Standards

We can advise you on the most appropriate standard tests for your requirements and we can design tests for you. We offer standard tests established by CEN/TC 216 (European Committee for Standardisation Technical Committee 216 – Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics) - EN standards in accordance with the EU Biocides Directive (98/8/EC) and for standard testing not established by CEN/TC 216 we can offer standard tests established by :

  • British Standards Institute (UK)
  • AFNOR (France)
  • The Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC)
  • The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

We ALSO offer testing to the highest standards at proposed CEN/TC 216 phase 2 and phase 3 where standardized tests have not yet been established. Established in house SOPs (under conditions representative of practical use) are currently available for norovirus and SARS virus testing.

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3
Basic Suspension test to examine bacterial and fungicidal activity

Step 1: suspension test to examine bactericidal, fungicidal, sporicidal or virucidal activity under laboratory conditions appropriate to its intended use (under conditions representative of practical use).

Step 2: Handwash, Handrub and Surface tests

Field tests under practical conditions

The tests we apply are to the highest specifications and subject to extensive quality control.
